FAQ

Can I show my legacy film on YouTube?

Yes you can. The main issue with YouTube is the music. If you want to use your legacy film on YouTube we have to use background music that we have “cleared” of performance rights for that purpose – but it is doable and we know how to do that. If you want to share your legacy film in other ways (such as on family smart phones and computers), the background music choices are wider (and more affordable).

What is the difference between a “video” and a “film”?

Nothing. Film is our preferred term for a finished, edited production that tells a story – but you can call it a video if you like!

What is a Lifemovie and how is it different from a legacy film.

A Lifemovie is simply our branded name for a legacy film that tells the full story of someone’s life. It is a full length, Netflix level production in documentary form that we make for our clients. A legacy film can also be a shorter, “celebration of life” video or be a video about specific life events of a family or individual. You can see samples of all of these on our main website page.

What if I’m nervous about being on camera or being interviewed for my project?

On some level, even Jimmy Kimmel is nervous being on camera! It’s true. It is natural to feel a bit nervous. If you choose to have interviews as part of your film, our job is to make you feel comfortable. Typically, the only people in the room will be you and your interviewer – who will also be your coach. You will soon forget the camera is even there. And remember, it isn’t “live”. We will only use interview segments you are happy with.

How long are legacy films?

A celebration of life video could be 5 minutes. A full Lifemovie, could be over an hour. But we will make your film as long as you want it to be.

How long does it take to produce a legacy film?

Of course it depends on the scope of the project. For projects that are simpler, with a firm deadline, we can complete a project in days. For bigger projects, with many pictures, video parts, interviews, editing, mixing – the project could take a number of weeks.

My pictures and videos are spread out and not organized. Some videos are in boxes, some photos are online, some are in albums. How do you deal with that?

There are services that will organize that and “digitize” your collection for a nominal fee. We can help you with that process.

I’ve never been good at taking pictures and videos, but I’d still like my story told. Can you still help me?

Yes. There are many other ways to tell your story. Using interviews with you, your family, friends and colleagues is one way to bring back memories and highlights from your life. Creative use of music, reenactments, and AI are other ways to bring your story to life.

What is the process for making a full Lifemovie legacy film?

It starts with us talking to you about your life, and using everything you might have - maybe your resume; written memoirs (if you have them); and even scrapbooks. We would organize your life in to “chapters” and then incorporate whatever videos and pictures you have. Typically, we would also do interviews with you and key figures in your life. From there we move to editing, reviewing, adding music, and mixing the audio and video together for the final film. Those elements can take several weeks to complete.

Can I see a fully completed Lifemovie legacy film so I really understand what can be done?

Yes. We would be happy to show you a Lifemovie by providing you with a link you can access and view at your leisure.
